Ranking the best theme parks in the world is by definition a subjective exercise. But after visiting dozens of parks, talking to enthusiasts from three continents and digesting too many hours of POV on YouTube, this is ours.15 parks, 15 scores, no concessions. Each park has its Parkland Score, its best attraction, its best time to go and an orientation price. If you don't agree with some position, perfect - that's what rankings are for, to discuss.
1. Universal's Islands of Adventure (Orlando, Florida) - Parkland Score: 9.5 / 10
If we had to choose one park in the world, it would be this one. Islands of Adventure has the combination that all seek and few get:very first level theming, attractions that push technical limits and thematic coherencethat makes each area feel like a different world. It is not the largest park or the most coasters, but every attraction counts.
Harry Potter Hogsmeade's saga was the one that changed the rules of the game in 2010, and it remains the most immersive area of any non-Disney park on the planet. But it is not reduced to Potter:Jurassic World, Seuss Landing, Toon Lagoon and the new Super Nintendo World area (which arrived in this park in 2025) make there not a single dead corner. It's the park where it's least important to repeat.
Better attraction:VelociCoaster. Florida's best coaster roll, no discussion. Launch, top hat, mosasaurus roll, airtime everywhere. Intense but accessible, technically impeccable and with a theming of raptors that makes you feel inside the film.
Best time:October. Less people, Halloween Horror Nights active in the brother park, and Orlando's climate finally stops being a sauna.
Guidance price:From $109 per day (1-park), from $164 (park-to-park). Express Pass are expensive but practically mandatory in high season.
2. Disneyland Park (Anaheim, California) - Parkland Score: 9.3 / 10
The original park. Walt's. The one who started it all in 1955 and that, seventy years later, remains the gold standard of the theme. Disneyland Park does not compete in size (it is surprisingly compact) or in number of extreme coasters. Compete in perfection. Every detail is careful: the music that changes between lands, the smell of vanilla on Main Street, the cast members that never break character.
New Orleans Square is probably the most thematically achieved area in any Disney park in the world. Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion remain two of the best dark rids ever built, and the fact that they have been running for decades without losing an apex of their magic says all that has to be said about the original design.
Better attraction:Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye. A dark ride / trackless hybrid that since 1995 remains more exciting than 90% of what has been opened later. The movement of the vehicle, the effects, the narrative... masterpiece.
Best time:Enero- February (after Christmas) or September. Avoid summer at all costs: heat, massification and 90-minute tails for everything.
Guidance price:From $104 (day per week) to $194 (point day). The Lightning Lane Multi Pass costs $25-35 extra.
3. Epic Universe (Orlando, Florida) - Parkland Score: 9.2 / 10
The newest park in this ranking, opened on May 22, 2025, and already on top 3. Epic Universe is Universal's most ambitious bet in decades:five completely immersive worldsconnected by a central hub (Celestial Park) that by itself would already be the best park of many chains.
The five worlds - Celestial Park, Dark Universe (classic monsters), How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic - offer a thematic variety that no other park equals. Each has its own visual, sound and gastronomic identity, and the transitions between them are so clean that you feel that you are traveling between dimensions.
Better attraction:Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry of Magic. A dark ride with projection and animatronic that redefines what can be done within a theme park. The Ministry's room, with its giant source and domestic elves, is a guaranteed moment "I drop my baba."
Best time:Any time it's not summer. Being new, he's going to have massification throughout 2026. If you can, go between January and March 2027, when the initial fever comes down.
Guidance price:From $139 a day. The multi-day packages with the other two Universal parks offer better value for money.
4. Eveling (Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands) - Parkland Score: 9.0 / 10
Eveling is the park that most underestimates people who have not visited it. It is the oldest theme park in Europe (opened in 1952) and probably the most charming in the world. It does not compete in adrenaline or budget with the American giants. He wins in magic, in coherence and in soul.
The whole park revolves around stories, legends and myths. The Sprookjesbos (Forest of the Tales) is a walk between scenes of fairy tales that has been enchanting generations of Dutch (and visitors) since the 1950s. And then you have modern attractions like Baron 1898 (dive coaster with spectacular mining theme), Symbolica (dark ride that rivals the best of Disney) and the new Danse Macabre (2024), which shows that Eveling can innovate without losing its identity.
Better attraction:Fata Morgana. A 1986 dark ride on the Arab world which, forty years later, remains absolutely impressive. The effects, the atmosphere, the music... is proof that you don't need touch screens to create magic.
Best time:Spring (open-May) for flower gardens, or Christmas (Winter Efelling). The snow-covered park with lights is something you'll remember all your life.
Guidance price:From 42 €online. Yeah, you read well. The fourth best park in the world costs a third of that from Orlando.
5. Europa-Park (Rust, Germany) - Parkland Score: 9.0 / 10
If Eveling wins in charm, Europa-Park wins in execution. It's the world's best managed theme park., period. The Mack family has been perfecting every detail for decades: impeccable cleaning, clear signage, decent food at reasonable prices (yes, in a theme park) and a level of maintenance that makes everything always work.
Thematic areas represent European countries, and although the idea may sound cursi, implementation is remarkable. The Greek area with its restaurant, the Scandinavian island, the Spanish district... each has its own gastronomy and identity. And the attractions are of the first level: Silver Star, Blue Fire, Wodan and the new Voltron (2024, a launched coaster of Mack that has revolutionized the sector) are one of the most solid lineups on the planet.
Better attraction:Voltron. The most innovative coaster of 2024: multiple launch, investments never seen, an interaction with the station that leaves you speechless. Mack Rides showed that he can compete with B & M and Intamin in his own league.
Best time:June or September. Julio- August is massified and it's hot. The Halloween season (October) is spectacular, with the best horror event in Europe.
Guidance price:From 62 €online. The parking is 8 €. It is very expensive for what you offer.
6. Universal Studios Japan (Osaka, Japan) - Parkland Score: 8.9 / 10
Universal Studios Japan is, for many Asian enthusiasts, the best park in Universal in the world. And they have strong arguments.Super Nintendo World here was the first to open (2021) and remains the most complete versionwith the Mario Kart ride that all the other parks try to copy. Harry Potter's area is practically identical to Orlando's, but with that level of Japanese service that raises everything.
USJ's great advantage over its American brothers is food. The Minion churros, the butterbeers, the Nintendo theme meals... everything is a step above in quality and presentation. And the seasonal events (Collaboration with anime, Halloween Horror Nights with Japanese theme) give you a unique personality.
Better attraction:Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Yeah, it's in all the Universal Parks with Potter, but the Japanese version has a maintenance and a fluidity of operation that makes it slightly superior. The Japanese know how to keep things going.
Best time:Octubre-November or March-April (hanami, cherry season). Avoid Golden Week (end of opening - early May) and summer at all costs.
Guidance price:From 8 600 €(about 54 €). The Express Pass is very expensive (from 5,500 €extra) but indispensable if you go in high season.
7. Tokyo DisneySea (Tokyo, Japan) - Parkland Score: 8.9 / 10
DisneySea is probably the most beautiful park in the world from a purely aesthetic point of view. The park is built around a central lagoonwith a volcano (Mount Prometheus) that erupts regularly, and the thematic areas - Mediterranean Harbor, American Waterfront, Lost River Delta, Arabian Coast - happen with an elegance that only Disney at its best can get.
The new Fantasy Springs (opened in 2024) added three areas based on Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan with a level of detail that rivals the best of Galaxy's Edge. Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey is possibly the most beautiful dark ride ever built.
Better attraction:Tower of Terror Japanese version. It is not the same as the other parks: this has a completely different narrative (the legend of the Harrison Hightower explorer) that makes it more interesting, more (terrifying) and more remontable.
Best time:Spring (May) or autumn (November). Disney's seasonal events (Halloween, Christmas) are huge in Japan.
Guidance price:From 7 900 €(about 49 €). Ridiculously cheap for what you offer. The Disney Premier Access costs between 1 500- 2 000 ¢per attraction.
8. Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio) - Parkland Score: 8.7 / 10
The world capital of the roller coasters. Cedar Point doesn't have the Universal theme or Disney magic. It has 17 roll coasters, several of them among the best in the worldAnd for many that's enough. It's the park you go to when you want to ride, ride and ride.
Steel Vengeance is the best hybrid coaster on the planet, and probably the best dry coaster for many enthusiasts. RMC exceeded everything he had done before with this 60-meter, 120 km / h beast and 27 seconds of airtime. And then you have Millennium Force (the one that restarted the gigacoasters' career in 2000), Maverick (perfect launch coaster) and the new Snake River Expedition (2025) that adds more depth to the lineup.
The problem with Cedar Point is the location: Sandusky, Ohio, is not exactly a tourist destination. And the park is showing its age in areas that are not the main coasters. But if you're a junkie coaster, this is your temple.
Better attraction:Steel Vengeance. It's not close. It's the best coaster in the world, and whoever says otherwise has not set it up.
Best time:June or September. The summer on Lake Erie can be brutal, and the tails in julio-August are legendary (in the bad sense).
Guidance price:From $50 online. The Fast Lane Plus (essential for Steel Vengeance) costs from an additional $110.
- Find tickets and experiences in theme parks →9. Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom (Orlando, Florida) - Parkland Score: 8.6 / 10
The most visited park in the world (more than 17 million visitors a year before the pandemic, and returning to those numbers) and, paradoxically, not the best park in your own resort. EPCOT and Animal Kingdom blow the head in terms of adult content. But Magic Kingdom has something that no other park has: the ability to make an adult feel like a child.
TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are the most popular coasters, but the real magic is in the dark rids: Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan's Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean. And the night fireworks on Cinderella Castle remain, after decades, the most exciting moment you can live in a theme park.
Better attraction:TRON Lightcycle / Run. Disney World's best coaster, with a launch that crushes you against the seat and a night outside section that is pure visual science fiction.
Best time:February or September - October. Avoid Christmas, Easter and summer as if your life depended on it.
Guidance price:From $109 to $189 per day. The multi-country packages make up for a visit to several Disney parks.
10. Puy du Fou (Les Epses, France) - Parkland Score: 8.5 / 10
Puy du Fou is the most original park in this ranking. He has no roller coasters. It has no conventional mechanical attractions. He has historical shows. They leave you with your mouth open. And it works: it is the second most visited theme park in France, behind Disneyland Paris but ahead of many others.
The Cinécénie, the night show with 2,400 actors, 28,000 figures and a stage on the history of France that is represented in a scenario of 23 hectares, is simply the world's largest outdoor theatre production. The other shows - the gladiators in the Roman amphitheater, the Musketeers, the Vikings - have no equivalent in any other park in the world.
Better attraction:Le Mime et l'Étoile or Le Dernier Panache. The latter, a show about a French naval officer, with water effects, fireworks and live horses, is probably the most intense time you can spend in a theme park without adding to any machine.
Best time:June or September. Night shows need darkness, so in summer they work better. Avoid julio- August by massification.
Guidance price:From 42 €per day. The 2-day pass is about €74. Unbelievable value.
11. PortAventura World (Salou, Spain) - Parkland Score: 8.3 / 10
The best theme park in Spain and, being honest, the one that best connects with the Spanish traveller. You don't need a presentation for those who read this from the peninsula: Shambhala, Dragon Khan, Furius Baco and the Mediterranean, Polynesian and Mexican theming that, with its limitations, remains pleasant. The Ferrari Land area gives you an adrenaline plus with Red Force (the highest and fastest coaster in Spain).
PortAventura wins points for accessibility from Spain, for price (much cheaper than going to Orlando) and because, after years of irregular investments, it seems that the park is taking its course with new attractions and maintenance improvements. Halloween shows are among the best in Europe, and the water park (PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park) is a good complement.
Better attraction:Shambhala. The B & M hypercoaster remains the queen of the park: 76 meters high, 134 km / h and floating airtime on each hill. Riding at night with the background Salou lights is a special moment.
Best time:Septibre-October for Halloween, or June for good climate without massification. Julio- August is a pot of human pressure.
Guidance price:From 45 €online (one park, one day). Seasonal passes make up for if you live nearby.
12. Disneyland Park (Paris, France) - Parkland Score: 8.2 / 10
The most visited European park and, for many Europeans, your first Disney experience. Disneyland Park in Paris has things that make it unique: Big Thunder Mountain is possibly the best version of all that exist (the island in the middle of the lake and the underground section under water are great), the Sleeping Beauty Castle is the most beautiful of all Magic Kingdom parks, and the Phantom Manor version is superior to the American Haunted Mansion.
But it also has the recurring problems of Disney Paris: unequal maintenance, cast members that sometimes seem to be there by obligation, and a management that has historically ranged between ambition and austerity. The park is in a moment of transition, with the ongoing reform of the Disney Village and the arrival of new attractions.
Better attraction:Big Thunder Mountain. The best mine train coaster ever built, in the best possible location. The tour under the lake between the island and the mountain is pure magic of park design.
Best time:Spring (open-May) or Christmas. The Christmas decorations of the Parisian park are among the best in the Disney world.
Guidance price:From 56 €online (one park, one day). The annual passes are popular among the neighbors of Ile-de-France.
13. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (Tampa, Florida) - Parkland Score: 8.1 / 10
The park that suffers most for its identity: is it a zoo with coasters or an amusement park with animals? Both, and it does them good.Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has one of the most undervalued coaster lineups in the United States: Iron Gwazi (RMC, one of the best in the country), Montu (inverted B & M coaster competing with the best), Sheikra (dive coaster pioneer) and Cheetah Hunt (family but fun coaster launch).
The zoo - with more than 200 well-designed species and habitats - gives it a depth that few theme parks have. You can spend a whole morning between the coasters and the afternoon walking the Serengeti Plain on the park train, watching giraffes and zebras. It's not as intense as Cedar Point or as magical as Disney, but it's a park with its own personality.
Better attraction:Iron Gwazi. RMC in wild mode: 60 meters, 122 km / h, death roll (an investment that hangs you face down for what seems an eternity). Brutal.
Best time:November- April. Summer in Tampa is an experience near the crematorium oven. In winter, the weather is perfect.
Guidance price:From $65 online. The Quick Cheue (fast pass) costs from $40 extra.
14. Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, California) - Parkland Score: 8.0 / 10
The park with the most roller coasters in the world (20) and one of the worst reputation among the not-enthusiastic.Magic Mountain is a park of brutal contrasts:amazing attractions (X2, Twisted Colossus, West Coast Racers, Full Throttle) living with questionable maintenance, mediocre food and a park that needs a serious hand of paint in many areas.
If you are a coaster, Magic Mountain is a compulsory pilgrimage. X2 only justifies the journey: a fourth-dimension coaster where the seats turn independently of the journey, creating an experience that is not like anything else in the world. And Twisted Colossus (RMC) is a dueling coaster that, when trains synchronize, provides you with two simultaneous airtime moments with the other train passing by your side. But if you're looking for the polished experience of a Disney or Universal Park, you're gonna be disappointed.
Better attraction:X2. It's not the softest or the longest, but it's the only one. Four decades after its opening, it remains an experience that has no equivalent in any other park.
Best time:March - May or September - November. The summer in the San Fernando valley is suffocating and the queues are horrifying.
Guidance price:From $50 online. The Flash Pass Platinum costs from $100 extra - expensive, but in a park with 20 coasters and 2-hour tails, it can be the difference between riding 5 or 12 in a day.
15. Alton Towers (Staffordshire, United Kingdom) - Parkland Score: 7.9 / 10
The closing of the ranking, but not a smaller park. Alton Towers isthe British theme park par excellencelocated on a historic estate with 19th century gardens that on their own already deserve a visit. The Smeller has the world investment record (14), Wicker Man is a wooden coaster with spectacular theming, and Obvion was the world's first dive coaster.
The park has had its disputes - the Smiler accident in 2015 marked a before and a later - and recent investments have been more conservative. But it continues to offer an experience you can't find in any other park in the UK, and the combination of the original Tower Gothic architecture with modern attractions gives you a particular charm.
Better attraction:The Wicker Man. A wooden coaster with a thematic structure that literally burns (real fire effects) while passing through. Theming is so good that sometimes you forget it's a coaster.
Best time:May--June or September. The British climate is unpredictable at any time, but at least at this time there is more chance of no need for a cocksucker.
Guidance price:From 29 £online (about 34 €). One of the most affordable parks in the ranking.

What this ranking does not include (and why)
Before someone screams "And where's X?" a few clarifications.HerschheyparkHe almost came in (great park, good coasters, but he's missing the "something" that the top 15 have).KnoebelsIt's a wonderful experience but it's not a theme park in the conventional sense.Tivoli Gardens(Copenhagen) is beautiful but small.Finland(South Korea) andLotte Worldthey are great parks but they do not reach the global level of those who are here. AndWalt Disney Studios Parkin Paris was automatically removed from the list: with the ongoing reform to become Disney Adventure World, its current state does not justify a top 15 position.
Frequently asked questions about the best theme parks in the world
Disneyland Park in California. It has the best combination of family attractions, shows, characters and that "Disney touch" that makes children (and adults) sit inside a movie. Eveling is a fantastic alternative in Europe, especially for children aged 4-10.
Cedar Point, no discussion. 17 roller coasters, including Steel Vengeance (the best in the world for many enthusiasts), Millennium Force and Maverick. If you're looking for pure intensity, it's your place. Six Flags Magic Mountain has more (20) but more unequal quality.
Tokyo DisneySea. The central lagoon with the volcano, the impeccable thematic areas and the new Fantasy Springs make it the most aesthetically impressive park on the planet. Eveling in Europe and Islands of Adventure in America also highlight this aspect.
Just for Epic Universe, no. But Orlando has Islands of Adventure (# 1), Magic Kingdom (# 9) and the other Disney and Universal parks that, together, make the city the most complete theme parks in the world. If you cross the pool, plan minimum 5-7 days.
Eveling, with tickets from 42 €, offers one of the best quality-price relationships in the world. Alton Towers (€34) and Tokyo DisneySea (€49) are also surprisingly affordable for what they offer. At the opposite end, Epic Universe ($139) and Magic Kingdom (up to $189) are the most expensive.
It depends on your budget and time. If you can afford a 7 + day trip to Orlando, the experience is unparalleled: you have 3 of the 10 best parks in the world in the same city. But if your budget is more tight, the Europa-Park + Eveling + PortAventura combination (all accessible from Spain in short flight) gives you three top parks for a fraction of the price.
