🎬 Walt Disney World — video overview by Parkland Voyage

Walt Disney World is not just a theme park; it is a world of its own. Covering more ground than the city of San Francisco, this Orlando resort includes four main theme parks, two water parks, a vast shopping and dining district (Disney Springs), and more than 25 themed hotels. In 2026, with Universal’s Epic Universe raising the competition, Disney has stepped up with new experiences, technology-driven attractions and an updated approach to queues. If you are planning the trip of a lifetime, this is the definitive guide.

The 4 parks: what you will find in each one

1. Magic Kingdom: where the magic comes to life

It is the most iconic park, crowned by Cinderella Castle. This is the home of classic attractions and character encounters.

  • TRON Lightcycle/Run: Disney World’s fastest roller coaster: a digital race through the Grid on lightcycles.
  • Tiana's Bayou Adventure: The long-awaited evolution of Splash Mountain, with remarkable theming based on The Princess and the Frog.
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: A charming family roller coaster with swaying mine carts.
  • Night Show (Happily Ever After): Essential. Fireworks and projections that will make you shed a tear.

2. EPCOT: Innovation and World Cultures

It is divided into four neighbourhoods: World Celebration, Discovery, Nature and Showcase. It is a favourite with adults for its food and drink offering.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: An "omnicoaster" that rotates 360 degrees while you listen to hits from the 70s and 80s. Possibly the most fun attraction in all of Orlando.
  • Remy's Ratatouille Adventure: A 4D mouse-sized tour of Gusteau's kitchen.
  • World Showcase: 11 real country pavilions with authentic food, drink and architecture.

3. Disney’s Hollywood Studios: action and Star Wars

This is where you step inside your favourite films, from Toy Story to Star Wars.

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: It is not just an attraction but a 20-minute experience in which the First Order captures you. The scale is overwhelming.
  • Slinky Dog Dash: A toy-themed roller coaster that is perfect for all ages.
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: The classic free fall elevator with an unbeatable atmosphere.

4. Disney’s Animal Kingdom: nature and Pandora

Much more than a zoo, it is a park dedicated to conservation and the fantasy of nature.

  • Avatar Flight of Passage: Fly on a banshee in the world of Pandora. The visual and sensory immersion is out of this world.
  • Expedition Everest: A roller coaster that takes you to the top of the Himalayas to meet the Yeti.
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris: A real safari through the African savannah with free-roaming lions, giraffes and elephants.

Queue strategy: Lightning Lane in 2026

Disney has simplified its system. Genie+ no longer exists; now there are **Lightning Lane Multi Pass** and **Single Pass** options:

  • Multi Pass: It lets you reserve up to three attractions before your trip—seven days ahead for Disney hotel guests and three days ahead for everyone else. Once you are in the park and use one, you can book the next.
  • Single Pass: For the top attractions (like TRON or Guardians), which are paid separately.
  • Virtual Queues: Some newer attractions do not have a physical queue. Open the app at exactly 7:00am to try to secure a boarding group.

International tips: insurance and eSIM

  • Holafly eSIM for the USA: You will need unlimited data. The Disney app (My Disney Experience) uses plenty of data and is essential for reservations and wait times.
  • Heymondo travel insurance: Do not travel to the United States without health insurance. A simple ankle sprain can cost you thousands of dollars in a Florida hospital.

Where to stay: inside or outside the Disney bubble?

Where to stay: inside or outside the Disney bubble?
  • Disney hotels (Value/Moderate/Deluxe): Benefits include entering 30 minutes early (Early Entry), free transport and earlier Lightning Lane reservations. The Pop Century is our value-for-money recommendation because of its Skyliner access.
  • Off-site hotels (Kissimmee/Lake Buena Vista): They are cheaper and have larger rooms. Ideal if you hire a car or use Uber, but you lose the advance-planning advantages.

How to get to Walt Disney World

Orlando is very well connected for international travellers:

  • Flights: Orlando International Airport (MCO) receives daily flights from Madrid (Iberia/Evelop) and other European capitals.
  • Shuttle (Mears Connect): The service that replaced Magical Express. It takes you from the airport to your Disney hotel for around $16–20 per person.
  • Uber/Lyft: They work very well in Orlando. The airport-to-Disney journey costs around $35–50.
  • Brightline Train: If you are coming from Miami, this high-speed train drops you directly at the Orlando airport.

Frequently asked questions about Walt Disney World Orlando

To do it properly, allow five to seven days. Fewer than four days means rushing hard and missing part of the experience, especially if you also want rest time, Disney Springs or a water park.

Yes, absolutely. They share a brand, but Orlando operates on another scale. Magic Kingdom may be familiar in some ways, but EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios offer a mix that doesn't exist in Paris.

It depends on the type of trip. Epic Universe brings novelty and a powerful technological punch, but Disney World still wins on breadth, hotels, internal transport and the sense of a complete multi-day destination.

Yes. Disney allows snacks, sandwiches and non-alcoholic drinks, provided you avoid glass and unsuitable containers. For families or longer stays, it is a very useful way to save a substantial amount of money.

It is Disney’s official photo package. It is particularly worthwhile for families, for anyone who wants lots of ride or park-photographer pictures, and for those who do not want to rely on a phone all the time.

It is not essential, but it helps a great deal. Saving time on transport, Early Entry and better access to certain reservations can justify the extra cost on a first trip or if you want a more comfortable experience.

January, February, late April, May and some weeks in September are usually good windows if you want to avoid the worst heat and crowds. Summer, Christmas and spring break are much tougher periods.
